About Certification Maintenance APPI certified professionals are required to maintain certification every two years from the time of original certification, and must earn Continuing Education Credits to do so. You must read the Certification Maintenance Guide for detailed information on maintaining your certification (CPI Guide).
APPI requires periodic certification maintenance to ensure individuals holding a CPI credential maintain an ongoing commitment to professional development. By meeting the maintenance requirements certificants demonstrate expansion and reinforcement of their knowledge of current practice. APPI supports this purpose by requiring appropriate and relevant continuing education activities to enhance the professional development of certificants. The certification maintenance program also serves to encourage and recognize individuals who participate in ongoing professional development. By maintaining certification, certificants show their willingness to continue the learning process and keep abreast of topical issues affecting the clinical research site. Certification is becoming increasingly recognized as a mark of professional preparation and managers feel it enhances individual professional standing and personal satisfaction, as well as company marketability (for CROs).
